(I also wanted to add that T's hair is getting so long it hangs in her face so I have told T that big girls have to wear a bow or "piggy tails" and not take them out. It's only been two days, but we are doing better than I expected. It still comes out occasionally, but stays in longer than the 5 seconds previously!)

Hammin' it up
As we were eating dinner tonight, brunner complete with chocolate chip mini-muffin-pancakes (see Bakerella) I looked over and T was a huge mess. After I told her so, she tilted her head, smiled a big goofy grin and said "take picture." K and I had to laugh, and of course, take a picture.

Baby K smiled at me today. A big, squinty eyed, gummy smile. I had just finished feeding him and was talking to him saying "Hiiii" and he smiled. Twice. I was a little surprised about it. When you feel a little like a zombie for weeks on end, moments like that are so treasured. It made me remember that T was stingy about her smiles for awhile at the beginning so I hope that baby K won't follow his sister's example, cause man, it's real cute.
T is a wonderful big sister. She is so interested in him and gives him lots of loves and pats on his head everyday. There have been a few close calls where she might have tried to be a little too loving, but I think she genuinely likes being a big sister. We got her a book while I was pregnant that I think really helped. It is just pictures, but it was nice to talk about what a big sister does and what a new baby would be like. (A small tangent... I really Really love children's books. There are so many good ones out there. I also really love the library. It's fun to go get a pile of new books and explore them with T. It helps me find out what she likes before I buy any books.) She is doing well without me too, she is such a mamma's girl, and last week surprised me by going to the park with her Grandpa B by herself. She just came up to me and said "Byyyee" and left. That has never happened before. I often feel guilt that I can't be two of myself and still give T the time I used to. I am hoping that as baby K gets on a schedule, I'll be able to do more one on one time with her again.
My biggest struggle, besides the lack of sleep, is that my pregnancy weight is sticking around. I assumed that I would slowly loose it like I did with T, but I haven't lost any since coming home from the hospital, and it makes me feel like a blob. My preggo clothes are still the most comfortable and I shudder at the idea that I may need to go buy some pants that fit me right now. What I would really like to do is throw away 90% of my wardrobe. After I lose the 25 lbs, of course. Having S around makes it a little more tricky to not want to eat really yummy food all the time too. I think we made a dessert every night last week. So good... My goal is to cut down on all the extras and hope to see some results. If not, I may have to go on a diet. I have never really done that and I fear I lack the self discipline to stick to something. I can offically start exercising again in a few weeks and I am excited that now I have an exercise buddy in S. Pilates here I come!

Time moves on
Every week I feel like I should post about baby K's progress. He is now 3 weeks and 3 days. I wouldn't say that time has flown by but I couldn't say that it has been dragging either. My days and nights seem to flow together into one long progression of feed, change, bounce and sleep.
We are trying to put baby K on a evening schedule now. He gets a bath right before or after T and his last meal at 10ish. It seems to be what he naturally wants to do, so that is a big help.
